Lesendes Mädchen

Devoutly, the little girl is reading an illustrated book, while the outline of her head is illuminated by a ray of light. An engraving by the Baden court painter Marie Ellenrieder with the title "Kindliches Gebeth" (A Child’s Prayer) provided the model here. The engraving was dedicated to Freiburg's first archbishop, Bernhard Boll.
