A short account of tobacco manufacturing in Norway, which got under way in the city of Fredrikstad in 1683. Before long, most coastal towns, including Kristiansand, had their own factories. And thanks to cheap and simple equipment, the preparation of chewing tobacco became something of a cottage industry.
