Accipiter nisus (karvaly). Állandó erdei madarunk, de parkokban útmento erdősávokban is előforuld. Apró állatokra specializálódott, bámulatos repülés technikával ágak között lavírozva ejti el a zsákmányát. Télen észak-európai társaik csatlakoznak a hazai állományhoz. Gallyakból rakott fészkét, ha teheti fenyőfára rakja. 3-8 tojásából 35 nap alatt kelnek ki a fiókák.
