Roman inscription from Colchester, Essex
A rubbing of the inscription on the tombstone of a Roman soldier, which has his effigy in relief, found in Colchester in 1868 by George Joslin. This rubbing is of the inscription only. It reads: M[arcus] FAVON[ius] M[arci] F[ilius] POL[lia] FACILIS [Centurio] LEG[ionis] XX [Vicesimae] VERECUNDUS ET NOVICIUS LIB[erti] POSUERUNT- H[ic] S[itus] E[st].
