Funerary figure seated on floor with knees raised. Arms missing. Such figurines were placed in tombs and it is believed that the Egyptians intended them to work for them in the afterlife. Later in Egyptian history this role was taken over by 'shabtis'. First Intermediate Period - Early Middle Kingdom. Purchased by Wellcome at auction in 1928.
