Hip cloth
This hip cloth comes from the batik factory of Nj. Tjoa Sing Kwat. It is rubbed with wax scrape shiny (digarus) by means of a shell. \These smooth cloths were a wedding gift. The cloth has not yet been sewn into a sarong, so it has not yet been worn. Such cloths were, together with jewellery, a woman's only possession; in case of divorce this was all she had, so such a cloth was financial security…
