7 September 1987: (engl.) First GDR State visit to German Federal Republic

Flags in black, red and gold flew in front of the Chancellor’s office, the red carpet was rolled out, as was the full pomp and circumstance of high office. It was a state visit like any other on that day in September – with one important difference.
