Hawk and Black-Game
The signature says the scene is from Ärentuna, north of Uppsala, where Liljefors stayed in a cottage in winter 1883–84. There were many black grouse that year in the wet fields, and the goshawk – common in those days – had plenty of prey. Liljefors shot a young hawk and used it as a model, along with grouse.
