Damenbildnis
Around the middle of the 19th century, fashion revived styles and trends from the Rococo period. The three-quarter length, wide flared sleeves (pagoda sleeves) were trimmed with so-called engageantes: false undersleeves of white lace peeking out from the sleeves. These details in lace are often repeated on the collar.
