Basket with Flowers
Monnoyer mostly, but not always, published his etchings in albums. This splendid coloured print was meant to hang on the wall in a frame and served as an inexpensive alternative to an oil painting. Because paper is fragile, many such prints have been lost. An impression like this one, therefore, is very rare nowadays.
