Biomechanics of the midface after Le Fort I osteotomy
Maxillary advancement is a common surgical technique for correction of skeletal deformities of the midface. Ammount of maxillary advancement is calculated with orthognatic software, maxilla is repositioned anteriorly and fixed with standard titanium plates. Depending on the ammount of advencement it is not clea if osteosynthetic material is sufficient for transmission of bite forces.
