Viking gold armlet from Ireland
The drawing shows one of a hoard of ten Viking gold armlets, found in 1802 on Hare Island in the Shannon, and later melted down.

The letter suggests that the Society should 'direct their Draughtsman to make accurate Drawings of these most precious Relicks, in order to preserve a faithful remembrance of them.'
